HOLLYWOOD, CA. (January 2008)

In only four years with amazing ambition and determination, THE ARTIVIST FILM FESTIVAL has received impressive recognition and and has seen the expansion of Artivist to the international stage. The 4th Annual Artivist Film Festival opened to enthusiastic audiences in Hollywood at the Egyptian Theatre from November 8 - 11, 2007, then toured to Lisbon and London in December, 2007. The Artivist Film Festival is looking forward to making its mark on additional international destinations in the upcoming year!

The success of ARTIVIST can be attributed to its ambitious vision: "ARTIVIST" is the 1st international activist film festival dedicated to addressing Human Rights, Children's Advocacy, Animal Rights and Environmental Preservation through film and music. Its mission is to strengthen the voice of international activist artists - "Artivists" - while raising public awareness for social global causes. In addition, Artivist has screened impressive LA and World Premieres in the past 4 years, such as the internationally recognized "Super Size Me", "Fast Food Nation", "Born Into Brothels", "Trudell", "Emmanuel's Gift", narrated by Oprah Winfrey, and dozens more. "Super Size Me" and "Born Into Brothels" received OSCAR nominations, making Artivist a top choice for filmmakers to screen their L.A. Premieres.

Founder - Executive Producer Diaky Diaz states, "Film and Art are the most powerful entertainment and educational media we have. ARTIVIST is dedicated to using the power of media responsibly by providing a platform to socially conscious filmmakers and artists."

In the past 4 years, Artivist has screened more than 250 international activist films from 35 countries at the renowned Egyptian Theatre in the heart of Hollywood.

THE ARTIVIST AWARDS honors the winning films of the annual Artivist Film Festival and the work of outstanding activist celebrities. The Gala Ceremony takes place at the completion of the Artivist Film Festival, at the renowned Egyptian Theater.

* Winning Filmmakers have the opportunity to distribute their films through the ARTIVIST FILM NETWORK.  Additional prizes are to be announced.
